The Generics Pharmacy, the country’s fastest growing pharmacy chain offering quality, affordable medicines, continues its ingenious ways of making healthcare accessible to the public bycoming up with another free service that will benefit consumers.
The “Dial-a-Doc” is a public service that consumers can avail at The Generics Pharmacy as part of its mission to provide free medical consultation to the public. Instead of traveling to the outlet though, consumers can now simply dial 732-3333 and get free medical consultation from adoctor on duty about their concerns on common maladies. The service is available from Monday to Saturday at 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
Benjamin I. Liuson, president of The Generics Pharmacy, said that the company will always find ways to make medicines and proper healthcare accessible to all Filipinos. “We have a lot of Filipinos living below the poverty line who can barely eat three meals a day, so as much as possible, we want to unburden them in their medicinal expenses. At The Generics Pharmacy, not only can they buy quality medicines at a fraction of the price of branded drugs, but also get free medical advice from our in-housedoctors, even over the phone,” Liuson said.
The provision of free medical consultations is one of the pioneering efforts of The Generics Pharmacy as part of its social responsibilities in reaching as many consumers as possible. Selected franchise branches provide a spacein their clinic where an in-house doctor provides free medical consultation to pharmacy consumers. The patients’ various symptoms and ailments are diagnosed, after which they can be prescribed with generic medicines that they can conveniently buy at The Generics Pharmacy.
Other branches also offer free dental consultations, apart from other advantages like 12% and 20% percent discount for senior citizens, free delivery within Metro Manila, and other incentives for loyal consumers.
Liuson added that all of these consumer benefits are in line with The Generics Pharmacy’s advocacy to educate the public about generic drugs. “People need to be enlightened. Generic medicines are as effective as their branded counterparts because they are made with the same active ingredients, same dosage form and same strength but at a fraction of the cost,” he explained.
The Generics Pharmacy currently has 900 outlets all over the country, in almost every corner of the country. Each outlet offers some 400 products that represent 85 percent of the common medication bought by Filipinos. These include medication for common ailments like headache, fever, cough and colds, diarrhea, constipation, and hyperacidity. Drugs for serious ailments like high blood, hypertension, cholesterol, diabetes, asthma, and arthritis are also available, along with antibiotics, vitamins, and food supplements. TGP offers low-priced equivalent medicines, like Paracetamol, a medication for fever and pain, for only P 0.60 per tablet against the leading brand at P3.00.
