WHAT IS THE MEDICINE USED FOR?
(Indication) Secretolytic therapy in acute & chronic bronchopulmonary disease associated w/ abnormal mucus secretion & impaired mucus transport.
HOW MUCH AND HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU USE THIS MEDICINE?
(Dosage) Adult & childn > 12 yr 1-2 tab tid. Childn > 7-12 yr ½ tab tid, 2-6 yr > ½ tab (dissolved in 5 mL water) bid.
(Contraindications) Hypersensitivity. Pregnancy (1st trimester) & lactation
(Precautions) Patients w/ history of stomach or intestinal ulcer & GI bleeding. Persistent or chronic cough (ie cough lasting >3 wk) or when coughing is accompanied by excessive secretions. Liver & kidney problems. Discontinue use if condition worsens or does not improve, & if new symptoms appear. Concomitant treatment w/ other drugs especially those for cough & cold.
(Adverse Reactions) Occasionally diarrhea, nausea, vomiting & temporary increase in some liver enzyme levels. Headache, dizziness, sweating, difficulty in breathing, skin rashes.
