TGP - 10 Fun & Healthy Activities This Summer

Summer’s here again, and that means it’s time for some well-deserved R&R, yes? As they say, “All work and no play makes Jack/Jill a dull boy/girl”. But before you head out to the beach or log in 10 hours today with your Playstation 3, think of the opposite, “All play and no work makes Jack/Jill a dull boy/girl”.

What that means is you need to strike a balance between something that’s both fun and healthy. This is so to keep both your mind and body active, preventing sickness and the need to purchase medicine for cold and cough this hot season. Here are 10 super fun activities this summer that’s good for your health!

1. Get in touch with water

And we don’t mean skinny-dipping. This means sailing, rowing, white water rafting, and even swimming. For activities that involve a ship will help build your chest and arm muscles, while swimming strengthens your entire body.

2. Have a healthy picnic

Plan a weekend where your entire family or group of friends pack healthy food like salad, fruit, what-have-you, trek to a mountain/hill, and then eat once you reach the top. It’s a nice way to reward yourselves in a nourishing way after a tiring trek.

3. Go for a health run

Be it 3k, 5k, 10k, or the whole 21k, do it for your health. Plus, there are freebies too like singlets, so it’s a win-win for everybody!

4. Start your own bike group

No, not with motorbikes, but bicycles that you have to pedal with. Going around for just 7 minutes burns 50 calories. 50! Imagine if you biked for an hour? That’s around…oh you do math.

5. Visit a museum

Aside from physical health, we’ll also tackle mental health here. Take in the history and culture of your own country by visiting a museum about the past, present, and possible future.

6. Go foraging

Invite your friends and family to pick out fruits and vegetables during a hiking trip and make something from it when you get back.

7. Take a "photowalk"

You got to follow a nature trail and capture absolutely beautiful surroundings you pass through. Just be sure you bring enough food, snacks, liquids, and a communication device so you can be traced in case you get lost.

8. Start yoga classes

The hot weather will definitely help you lose more pounds, especially if you take Bikram. Plus, it’s a great de-stressing activity, too!

9. Rock climbing!

Not only does this test your physical capabilities, but your mental ones as well. You’ve got to be sharp in order to know which rock formation to grip/step on.

10. Finally take up a sport

Be it basketball, volleyball, tennis, or even badminton, as long you’re physically active, you’re good to go!
