Amlodipine Tab 5mg (CARDIOVASC SANDOZ)-100
Treatment for Essential Hypertension / Chronic stable and vasospastic angina pectoris
Dosage and Administration:
In adults: For treatment of both hypertension and angina peectoris, 5mg daily. If the desired therapeutic effect cannot be achieved within 2-4 weeks, this dose may be increased to a maximum dose of 10mg daily (as single dose) depending on the individual patient’s response. In children with hypertension from 6 years to 17 years of age: 2.5mg as a starting dose, up-titrated to 5mg once daily if blood pressure goal is not achieved after 4 weeks. NOTE: The 2.5mg dose cannot be obtained with Amplodipine 5mg tablets as these tablets are not manafactured to break into two equal halves. In the elderly: Normal dosage regimens are recommended in the elderly, 5mg daily.
Amplodipine is contraindicated in patients with: -hypersensitivity to dihydropyridine derivatives, amplodipine or any of the excipients – severe hypotension -shock(including cardiogenic shock) -obstruction of the outflow tract of the left ventricle. haemodynamically unstable heart failure after acute myocardial infraction.
Leukocytopenia, Thrombocytopenia, Allergic reactions, Hyperglycaemia, Insomia, Mood changes (including anxiety), depression, (Rare) Confusion, Somnolence, Dizziness, Headache (especially at the beginning of the treatment), Tremor, Dysgeusia, Syncope, Hypoaesthesia, Paraesthesia, Hypertonia, Peripheral neuropathy, Visual disturbance (including diplopia), Tinnitus, Palpitations, Myocardial infarction, arrhythmia (including bradycardia, ventricular tachycardia and atrial fibrillation), Flushing, Hypotension, Vasculitis, Dyspnoea, Rhinitis, Cough, Abdominal Pain, Nausea, Vomiting, Dyspepsia, Altered bowel habits (including diarrhea and constipation), Dry mouth, Pancreatitis, Gastritis, Gingival Hyperplasia, Hepatitis, Jaundice, Hepatic enzymes increased, Alopecia, Purpura, Skin discolouration, Hyperhydrosis, Pruritus, Rash, Exanthema, Angioedema, Erythema multiforme, Urticaria, Exfoliative dermatitis, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, Quincke oedema, photosensitivity, Ankle swelling, Arthalagia, Myalgia, Muscle cramps, Back pain, Mictutrition disoreder, Nocturia, Increased urinary frequency, Impotence, Gynaecomastia, Oedema, Fatigue, Chest pain, Asthenia pain, malaise, Weight increase, weight decrease.
