How much and how often should you use the product?

Bisacodyl is taken orally, usually in the evening. Bisacodyl normally works within 6 to 12 hours.

It is recommended that a person take only one 5 mg bisacodyl tablet a day. Do not take it for more than one week without talking to your doctor.

Swallow the tablet whole with one glass of water. Do not split, chew, or crush the tablet as it can release all of the medication too soon.

Do not take bisacodyl within 1 hour after consuming dairy products.

Precautions

Before using this medication notify your doctor if you have or are:

  • Allergic to any bisacodyl or any of its ingredients
  • If taking antacids, wait at least 1 hour before taking bisacodyl
  • Experiencing pain, nausea, vomiting, or a sudden change in bowel movements which lasts more than 2 weeks
  • Below 18 years of age
  • Pregnant, are planning to become pregnant, or are nursing a baby

Bisacodyl is only a supplementary medicine. Proper diet rich in fiber and regular exercise is needed to correct one’s bowel movements.
