How much and how often should you use the product?
Cefalexin is usually taken three times a day, every 8 hours. Use this medicine for the full prescribed length of time. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. If this happens, keep taking the medicine as prescribed. Skipping doses may also increase your risk of further infection that is resistant to antibiotics. Cefalexin will not treat a viral infection such as the flu or a common cold.
Take cefalexin at the same time each day.
Do not share your cefalexin with another person even if you share the same symptoms.
Mechanism of Action
Cefalexin is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic and contains a beta-lactam and dihydrothiazide. Cephalorins are more resistant to the action of beta-lactamase as compared to penicillins.
Cefalexin works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, causing its breakdown and eventual cell death.
