How much and how often should you use the product?

Cefuroxime tablets are taken orally. Your doctor will inform you of the right dosage or number of tablets you should be taking each day based on your age, overall health, and medical conditions.

Cefuroxime may be given as a single dose to treat gonorrhea. In most cases, cefuroxime is prescribed for 7 to 10 days, or for up to 20 days to treat Lyme disease. Swallow the tablet whole and do not crush, chew, or break it. You may take cefuroxime with or without food.

Use this medicine for the full prescribed length of time. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. If this happens, keep taking the medicine as prescribed. Skipping doses may also increase your risk of further infection that is resistant to antibiotics. Amoxicillin will not treat a viral infection such as flu or a common cold.

Take cefuroxime at the same time each day.

Do not share your cefuroxime with another person even if you share the same symptoms.

Pharmacological Action: Cefuroxime is a bactericidal agent that acts by inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis. Cefuroxime has activity in the presence of some beta-lactamases, both penicillinases and cephalosporinases, of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.
