How much and how often should you use the product?
Ciprofloxacin is usually taken three times a day, every 8 hours. Use this medicine for the full prescribed length of time. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. If this happens, keep taking the medicine as prescribed. Skipping doses may also increase your risk of further infection that is resistant to antibiotics. Ciprofloxacin will not treat a viral infection such as the flu or a common cold.
Take ciprofloxacin at the same time each day.
Do not share your ciprofloxacin with another person even if you share the same symptoms.
Mechanism of Action
Ciprofloxacin acts on bacterial topoisomerase II (DNA gyrase) and topoisomerase IV. It targets the alpha subunits of DNA gyrase and prevents it from supercoiling the bacterial DNA, inhibiting DNA reproduction.
