Dicycloverine Syr 10mg 60ml (SPASMED)-1
Indications:
It is used in gastro-intestinal spasm, particularly that associated with irritable bowel syndrome, and is also given in association with antacids as an adjunct in the treatment of peptic ulcer.
Dosage and Administration:
Adults: 10mg to 20mg (1 to 2 tsp. ) 3 to 4 times a day.
Children:
6 months to 2 years – 5mg to 10mg (1/2 tsp to 1 tsp.) 3 to 4 times daily, to a total daily dose not exceeding 40mg; doses are usually given 15 minutes before meals.
2 years to 12 years – 10mg (1 tsp.) 3 times daily or as prescribed by a physician.

Contraindications:

Precautions:
It should be given with caution in children and in geriatic patients, who may be more susceptible to its adverse effects. It is contra-indicated in patients with prostatic enlargement and in those with paralytic ileus or pyloric stenosis. In patients with ulcerative colitis, with myasthenia gravis, with closed angle glaucoma and in patients taking antimuscarinic agents in conditions characterized by tachycardia such as thyrotoxicosis, cardiac insufficiency or failure, and in cardiac surgery.
