How much and how often should you use the product?
Generic guaifenesin syrup is taken orally. Your doctor will inform you of the right dosage or number of capsules you should be taking each day based on your age, overall health, and medical conditions.
Recommended dosage for children:
2 – 6 years: 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 mL) 3 to 4x a day
7 – 12 years: 1 teaspoonful (5-10 mL) 3 to 4x a day
Do not take more than the recommended dose.
Shake well before using. To ensure that you are giving the right amount of medicine, please use the provided measuring cup, spoon, or dropper. Before pouring out the medicine into the measuring device, check the markings to see if you can read them clearly. Then, pour the required dose into the measuring device. Make sure to clean and store the device properly after each use. You should not use a kitchen tablespoon or teaspoon in place of the provided measuring device as this will result in an incorrect dose.
Mechanism of Action
The exact mechanism of action of guaifenesin is still not known although scientists believe it functions by increasing mucus secretion in the body, making it easier for the patient to expel.
