Our story started back in 1949 as a small pharmaceutical company. Seeing the need and demand for cheaper medicine, we focused on providing Filipinos with generic medicines.

From a small pharmaceutical company, we expanded our business in 2001 with one retail outlet and in 2007, we started a franchising model with 20 outlets in Metro Manila. In just 5 years, expansion grew even bigger and TGP achieved 1,400 branches, making TGP the largest drugstore nationwide.

TGP received various awards and recognition as one of the best franchises in the Philippines. In 2011 and 2013, The Generics Pharmacy Received the Outstanding Filipino Franchise of the Year award during the 11th Franchise Excellence Awards. TGP also received other awards like Best Franchise in Support from Entrepreneur Philippines, multiple Agora awards, and Entrepreneur of the year at the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship awards in 2017.

Our secret is simple, we provide quality products with competitive prices at convenient locations. We made our franchise model simple to make it easier for Filipinos to invest and grow their money. Launching the TGP Website

In 2013, we wanted to provide our customers with a platform to share informational articles and an easier way to access our franchise materials. It was our mission to educate the mass. It was a time when Filipinos had more and more access to the internet and we wanted to take advantage of technology and accessibility of the world wide web.

That’s when we realized the importance of having an online presence and was launched. Our website was well received. was getting 8,000 to 12,000 visitors a month. Articles about health were regularly published as well as news about the TGP franchise.

Investing in SEO

The TGP website was a successful campaign and it became one of the main platforms that helped us grow our franchise. At the beginning of 2016, TGP received 13,000 visitors and continuously increased and reached a peak of 46,000 visitors in November.

The mission was to further improve the website. In December 2016, we decided to go with Search Engine Optimization and acquire the services of SEO-Hacker, one of the best SEO agencies in the country.

We targetted a specific set of keywords which were accompanied by landing pages for ranking and conversions. was optimized to be SEO-friendly using on-page SEO strategies. Link building strategies were also executed to further increase TGP’s domain authority.

We continued to publish helpful articles for our customers. We produced high-quality content that is SEO-friendly so not only would people see them if they visit TGP’s website but also when searching for information on Google.

The SEO-Hacker Effect

Continuous SEO efforts throughout 2017 further improved’s traffic. From 16,000 to 42,000 in 2016, our traffic grew to 16,000 to 61,000 by the end of 2017 and it was just all improvement from thereon out.

To make it our franchising better and easier, an online payment system was also launched to make it easier for franchisees to purchase new stocks for their stores.

2018 started with a bang with a whopping 84,000 visits in the month of January. We were receiving an average of 3,000 visitors a day. By October 2018, was receiving an average of 150,000 visitors a month. Our searchability was higher than ever and we were on the first page of all the keywords we were targetting.

Content production was diversified. Both English and Filipino articles were being published to cater to different queries and demographics. As a result, not only we were receiving thousands of traffic nationally, we were also receiving visits worldwide.

Search Results Success continues to dominate the search results in 2019. The website continues to rank for high-volume keywords on the first page and content remains to be our number one asset. With an average of 160,000 visitors a month, 90% of those are from organic search results and our content is generating more than 1.5 million impressions.

The Generics Pharmacy has become a household brand. There is no doubt that SEO has done wonders for us in the digital market. Not only are we a brand where people go to our stores, but we are also a brand that is close to our community online.
