TGP Franchisees win FDA Quality Seal Awards

FDA

Several franchisees of The Generics Pharmacy, the country’s largest drugstore chain, recently received the prestigious Quality Seal Award from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The award is given annually by the FDA to pharmacies that not only comply with its strict rules and regulations but also institute strong community service through quality pharmaceutical care. Among the award’s criteria for evaluation include the stores’ compliance to Generics Act of 1998 and to Senior Citizens Act, having required documentation and record books, presence of licensed pharmacist and pharmacy aides, membership to recognized organizations, patient counseling and customer assistance, health education initiatives, and compliance with Price Act, among others. In Luzon, eight TGP franchisees received the honorary distinction for their respective branch sites. These are: DGPI of Ermita, Manila; Roderick Battung of Nueva Vizcaya; Frances Talattad and Jennifer Talattad of Roxas and Centro Ilagan, respectively, in Isabela province; Alvin Rivera & Gilenie Rivera of Laoag City; Jun Sison of Lingayen, Pangasinan; William To of Calapan City; and Evelyn Gawad of Oriental Mindoro. In the Visayas region, the TGP awardees are: May Mercado-Bacsal of Eastern Samar; Airene Pelomico of Catarman, Samar; and Rey Evangelista of Isabel, Leyte. In Mindanao, the following TGP franchisees and their respective branches received the award: DGPI-Zamboanga City; Ruel Cortez, Area Manager, DGPI-Davao City; Junar Mercado-Regional Manager, DGPI-Koronadal City, South Cotabato; Benjo Reyes, TGP Pharma, Inc., Butuan City; Zaldy Labaro, Area Manager, DGPI; and Henry Lao of Matina, Davao City. TGP President and CEO Benjamin I. Liuson is grateful for the recognition and states that its commitment to quality service is in line with the company’s mission of making medicines more affordable and accessible to all Filipinos. “Our franchisees share this mission and promote our brand values thoroughly,” he said. “We congratulate them all for obtaining the Quality Seal Award, the symbol of our enduring commitment to serve the public in the best way possible.” TGP opened its business to franchising in 2007 and has since grown to over 1,450 stores nationwide, continuously promoting safe, affordable and effective generic medicines, investing in medical personnel training, and coming up with healthcare outreach programs and other worthy initiatives.
