Description:
How much and how often should you use the product? Generic folic acid capsules are taken orally. Consult your doctor on the right dosage or number of capsules you should be taking each day based on your age, overall health, and medical conditions. Do not take it in larger amounts or for longer than recommended. Your doctor may change up your dosage from time to time in order for you to get the best results from the medication. Mechanism of Action Because folic acid is biochemically inactive, is converted to tetrahydrogolic acid and methyltetrahydrofolate through dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR). The folic acid congeners are then transported across the cells by the receptor-mediated endocytosis where they are used to maintain normal erythropoiesis, synthesize purine and thymidylate nucleic acids, interconvert amino acids, methylate tRNA, and generate and use formate. With the help of vitamin B12 acting as a cofactor, folic acid can also normalize high homocysteine levels by remethylation of homocysteine to methionine via methionine synthetase. Before using this medication notify your doctor if you have or are: Epilepsy or other seizure disorder Cirrhosis or other liver disease Kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis) Hemolytic anemia Pernicious anemia Anemia An infection Alcoholism Below are the possible side effects that you may experience from taking folic acid capsules. These side effects are possible but do not always occur. If you experience any of these side effects, stop taking the product and immediately consult with your doctor.
