DESCRIPTION
LADY is a combined oral contraceptive (COC) containing ethinylestradiol (estrogen) and levonorgestrel (progestin).
Each 28-tablet pack typically contains:
• 21 active tablets: Ethinylestradiol 30 mcg + Levonorgestrel 150 mcg
• 7 inactive tablets (placebo)
It prevents pregnancy by:
• Inhibiting ovulation
• Thickening cervical mucus, making sperm penetration difficult
• Altering the endometrium, reducing the likelihood of implantation

USES
• Prevention of pregnancy (oral contraception)
• Regulation of menstrual cycles
• Management of:
o Dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation)
o Menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding)
o Premenstrual symptoms
o Irregular menstruation

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
• Adults and adolescents:
o Take one tablet orally once daily, at the same time each day
o Follow the order indicated in the 28-day pack
Initiation:
• Preferably start on the first day of menstrual bleeding
• If started on another day, use additional contraception for the first 7 days
Missed Dose:
• 1 tablet missed: Take as soon as remembered, then continue the next dose at the usual time
• 2 consecutive tablets missed: Take the most recent missed tablet as soon as possible and continue the rest; use backup contraception for 7 days
• ≥3 tablets missed: Continue taking tablets and use backup contraception for 7 days

PRECAUTIONS
Use with caution or avoid in patients with:
• History of thromboembolic disorders (e.g., deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism)
• Cerebrovascular or coronary artery disease
• Breast cancer or estrogen-dependent tumors
• Severe liver disease
• Uncontrolled hypertension
• Migraine with aura
General Precautions:
• Does not protect against HIV or other sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
• Increased risk of blood clots in smokers, especially women ≥35 years
• Use under medical supervision, with periodic evaluation
Drug Interactions:
• May reduce contraceptive efficacy:
o Rifampicin and rifabutin
o Certain antiepileptics (e.g., phenytoin, carbamazepine)
o Some antiretrovirals
• May increase hormone levels:
o Certain antifungals
o Macrolide antibiotics
o Grapefruit juice

SIDE EFFECTS
Common:
• Nausea or vomiting
• Headache
• Breast tenderness

• Breakthrough bleeding or spotting

• Stroke or heart attack symptoms
