DESCRIPTION
AUMOX Co Amoxiclav Film Coated Tablet 500mg/125mg is a combination antibiotic containing amoxicillin (a penicillin type antibiotic) and clavulanic acid (a beta lactamase inhibitor). Amoxicillin works by killing susceptible bacteria, while clavulanic acid helps prevent bacterial resistance by inhibiting beta lactamase enzymes. This combination extends the antibiotic’s spectrum of activity.

Description

“How much and how often should you use the product? Co-amoxiclav is usually taken three times a day, every 8 hours. Use this medicine for the full prescribed length of time. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. If this happens, keep taking the medicine as prescribed. Skipping doses may also increase your risk of further infection that is resistant to antibiotics. Co-amoxiclav will not treat a viral infection such as the flu or a common cold. Take co-amoxiclav at the same time each day. Do not share your co-amoxiclav with another person even if you share the same symptoms. Mechanism of Action Co-amoxiclav is a combination of two ingredients, amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxicillin belongs to the penicillin family and works by interfering with the ability of the bacteria to form cell walls. It creates holes in the bacterial cell walls which kills the bacteria-causing infection. Some bacteria have grown resistant to penicillin, producing beta-lactamases which prevent the antibiotics from working. Clavulanic acid acts as a beta-lactamase inhibitor and stops bacteria from combating amoxicillin. Before using this medication notify your doctor if you have or are: Allergic to any food or syrup or substance Have had an allergic reaction to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, penicillin or any of the other ingredients Have had a severe allergic reaction to any other antibiotic. This can include a skin rash or swelling of the face and throat Have ever had liver problems or jaundice (yellowing of the skin) when taking antibiotics Have (or think you may have) glandular fever Have liver or kidney problems Are not urinating regularly Below are the possible side effects that you may experience from taking co-amoxiclav tablets. These side effects are possible but do not always occur. If you experience any of these side effects, stop taking the product and immediately consult with your doctor. Diarrhea Itching, redness and discomfort in or around your mouth, armpits, vagina, penis or groin area Feeling or being sick (nausea or vomiting), especially when taking high doses of co-amoxiclav A skin rash which may blister Watery diarrhea which may be accompanied by blood or mucus Stomach pain, possibly with a high temperature Pale stool with dark urine, yellowing of the skin or the whites of your eyes Generic co-amoxiclav tablets are available in all The Generics Pharmacy branches nationwide at a very affordable price.”
