DESCRIPTION
AMIBAZOLE Metronidazole Tablet 500 mg is an antibacterial and antiprotozoal medication used to treat infections caused by anaerobic bacteria and certain parasites. It works by damaging the DNA of microorganisms, leading to their death. It is effective against infections of the gastrointestinal tract, reproductive system, skin, and other body systems caused by susceptible organisms.

• Treatment of amoebiasis (intestinal and extra intestinal)
• Management of giardiasis and trichomoniasis
• Treatment of anaerobic bacterial infections
• Management of dental infections
• Treatment of gastrointestinal infections
• Used in combination therapy for Helicobacter pylori infection
• Treatment and prevention of post surgical anaerobic infections

DOSAGE
• Adults:
Usually 500 mg every 8–12 hours, depending on the type and severity of infection, or as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
• Take after meals to reduce stomach upset.
• Duration of treatment depends on the condition being treated.
• Complete the full course of therapy even if symptoms improve.

PRECAUTIONS
• Do not use if allergic to metronidazole or other nitroimidazole derivatives
• Avoid alcohol consumption during treatment and for at least 48 hours after completing therapy to prevent severe reactions

o Liver disease

• Long term use may require monitoring of blood counts
