DESCRIPTION
NITROFIX SR Isosorbide Mononitrate Sustained Release Tablet contains isosorbide mononitrate, a long acting nitrate vasodilator. It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels, reducing the heart’s workload and improving blood flow to the heart muscle. The sustained release formulation provides prolonged therapeutic effect for the prevention of angina attacks.

USES
• Prophylaxis of angina pectoris (chest pain due to coronary artery disease)
• Long term management of ischemic heart disease
• Reduction of frequency and severity of anginal attacks
• Adjunct therapy in chronic heart conditions as prescribed

DOSAGE
Use strictly as directed by a physician.
• Adults: 1 sustained release tablet (30 mg) once daily
• Dose may be adjusted based on clinical response
Tablet should be swallowed whole with water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet, as this may affect the sustained release action. Take at the same time each day.

PRECAUTIONS
• Not intended for immediate relief of acute angina attacks
• Use with caution in patients with hypotension, dehydration, or severe anemia
• Avoid sudden standing up to reduce risk of dizziness or fainting
• Do not use concurrently with phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil) due to risk of severe hypotension

• Do not discontinue abruptly without medical advice

SIDE EFFECTS
• Headache (common, especially at start of therapy)
• Dizziness or lightheadedness
• Flushing
• Low blood pressure (hypotension)
• Nausea

• Rare: fainting or rapid heartbeat
