DESCRIPTION
PIXXTAV 5 Apixaban Film Coated Tablet 5 mg is an oral anticoagulant belonging to the direct factor Xa inhibitor class. It works by selectively inhibiting factor Xa, thereby reducing thrombin generation and preventing blood clot formation.

USES
• Prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non valvular atrial fibrillation
• Treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
• Treatment of pulmonary embolism (PE)
• Prevention of recurrent DVT and PE
• Prevention of venous thromboembolism after hip or knee replacement surgery

DOSAGE
• Dosage must be prescribed by a healthcare professional
• Common adult dose: 5 mg twice daily
• A reduced dose may be required in elderly patients or those with renal impairment, low body weight, or certain drug interactions
• May be taken with or without food
• Tablets should be swallowed whole with water
• Do not discontinue abruptly without medical advice
