DESCRIPTION
IRBEGEN Irbesartan Tablet 300mg contains irbesartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It lowers blood pressure by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a substance that causes blood vessels to constrict. By relaxing and widening blood vessels, irbesartan improves blood flow, reduces blood pressure, and helps protect the heart and kidneys.

USES
• Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure)
• Helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications associated with hypertension
• Treatment of diabetic nephropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension
• Helps protect kidney function and slow progression of kidney disease

DOSAGE
• Adults:
o Usual dose: 150–300mg once daily, depending on response, or as directed by a physician
May be taken with or without food. Take at the same time each day.

PRECAUTIONS
• Do not exceed the recommended dose
• Contraindicated in pregnancy; discontinue immediately if pregnancy occurs
• Use with caution in patients with kidney or liver impairment
• Inform your doctor if taking diuretics, potassium supplements, or potassium containing salt substitutes
• Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and potassium levels is recommended
• Consult a doctor before use if breastfeeding

SIDE EFFECTS
Generally well tolerated. Possible side effects may include:
• Dizziness or lightheadedness, especially at start of therapy
• Headache
• Fatigue
• Low blood pressure (hypotension)
• Increased potassium levels (hyperkalemia, rare)
Seek medical attention if severe dizziness, fainting, or allergic reactions occur.
