DESCRIPTION
ISORBIDE Isosorbide 5 Mononitrate SR Tablet 60mg contains isosorbide 5 mononitrate, a long acting nitrate used for the prevention of angina pectoris. It works by relaxing and dilating blood vessels, improving blood flow to the heart and reducing cardiac workload. The sustained release (SR) formulation provides prolonged therapeutic effect over the day.

USES
• Prevention of angina pectoris (chest pain due to coronary artery disease)
• Long term management of chronic stable angina
• Helps reduce the frequency and severity of angina attacks
Not intended for the relief of acute angina attacks.

DOSAGE
• Adults:
o 1 sustained release tablet (60mg) once daily, preferably taken in the morning, or as directed by a physician
• Swallow tablet whole with water
• Do not crush, chew, or split the tablet

PRECAUTIONS
• Not for acute relief of chest pain
• Do not use concomitantly with phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil, tadalafil) due to risk of severe hypotension
• Use with caution in patients with low blood pressure, recent heart attack, or severe anemia
• Alcohol may enhance the blood pressure lowering effect
• Consult a doctor before use if pregnant or breastfeeding
• Do not stop treatment abruptly; dose should be reduced gradually if discontinuation is required

SIDE EFFECTS
Possible side effects may include:
• Headache (common, especially at start of treatment)
• Dizziness or lightheadedness
• Flushing
• Low blood pressure
• Nausea
