DESCRIPTION
FENOGAL Fenofibrate Capsule contains fenofibrate, a lipid modifying agent belonging to the fibrate class. It works by activating peroxisome proliferator activated receptor alpha (PPAR α), which enhances the breakdown and clearance of triglyceride rich lipoproteins and improves lipid metabolism. Fenofibrate is primarily used to reduce elevated triglycerides and to correct abnormal cholesterol profiles.

USES
• Hypertriglyceridemia
• Mixed dyslipidemia (elevated triglycerides with low HDL cholesterol)
• Primary hypercholesterolemia, as adjunct to diet and lifestyle modification
• Reduction of cardiovascular risk in selected patients with dyslipidemia
• Adjunct therapy when diet, exercise, and weight control are insufficient

DOSAGE
Use strictly as directed by a physician.
• Adults: 160 mg once daily
Capsule should be taken with food to improve absorption. Swallow whole with water.

PRECAUTIONS
• Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment; dose adjustment or avoidance may be required
• Not recommended in patients with severe renal dysfunction or active liver disease
• Periodic monitoring of liver function tests, renal function, and lipid levels is recommended
• Increased risk of muscle toxicity when combined with statins; monitor for muscle pain or weakness
• Contraindicated in patients with gallbladder disease
• Consult a healthcare professional before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
• Discontinue and seek medical advice if unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness occurs

SIDE EFFECTS
• Gastrointestinal discomfort (abdominal pain, nausea)

• Gallstones (with long term use)
• Skin rash or itching
• Rare but serious: rhabdomyolysis, pancreatitis
