DESCRIPTION
PTERIN Methotrexate Tablet contains methotrexate, a cytotoxic and immunosuppressive agent classified as an antimetabolite. It works by inhibiting dihydrofolate reductase, thereby interfering with DNA synthesis, cell replication, and immune activity. Methotrexate is used in low doses for autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, and in higher doses for certain cancers.

USES
• Rheumatoid arthritis (including severe, active disease)
• Psoriasis (severe and refractory cases)
• Psoriatic arthritis
• Certain autoimmune and inflammatory conditions as prescribed
• Adjunct treatment in specific malignancies (dose varies by indication)

DOSAGE
Use strictly as directed by a physician.
• Rheumatoid arthritis / Psoriasis:
Usually once weekly dosing only (commonly 7.5–25 mg per week, adjusted individually)
⚠️ Methotrexate is NOT taken daily for these indications.
Incorrect daily dosing may result in serious or fatal toxicity.
Tablets should be swallowed whole with water. Folic acid supplementation is commonly prescribed alongside methotrexate to reduce side effects.

PRECAUTIONS
• Strictly contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding
• Use with extreme caution due to risk of serious toxicity
• Regular monitoring of complete blood count, liver function, and renal function is required
• Avoid alcohol due to increased risk of liver damage
• Increased risk of infections due to immunosuppression
• Use with caution in patients with liver disease, kidney disease, blood disorders, or active infections

SIDE EFFECTS
