DESCRIPTION
REVENTA Alendronic Acid Tablet 70 mg is a bisphosphonate medication used in the management of osteoporosis and other bone disorders. Alendronic acid works by inhibiting bone resorption by osteoclasts, leading to increased bone mineral density and reduced risk of fractures. The 70 mg strength is commonly prescribed for once weekly dosing.

• Treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women
• Treatment of osteoporosis in men
• Management of glucocorticoid induced osteoporosis
• Reduction of risk of vertebral and hip fractures
• Treatment of other conditions associated with bone loss, as prescribed

DOSAGE / DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Use strictly as directed by a physician.
• Adults: 1 tablet (70 mg) once weekly
Important administration instructions:
• Take the tablet first thing in the morning on an empty stomach
• Swallow whole with a full glass of plain water (at least 200 mL)
• Do not chew, crush, or suck the tablet
• Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking the tablet and until after the first food of the day
• Do not take with food, beverages (other than water), or other medications

PRECAUTIONS
• Contraindicated in patients with esophageal abnormalities or inability to remain upright for at least 30 minutes
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment
• Adequate calcium and vitamin D intake is necessary during therapy
• Avoid use in patients with hypocalcemia until corrected
• Discontinue and consult a doctor if difficulty swallowing, chest pain, or new/worsening heartburn occurs
• Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if clearly prescribed

SIDE EFFECTS
• Gastrointestinal irritation
• Abdominal pain
• Acid reflux or heartburn
• Nausea
• Esophageal ulceration or irritation (rare)
• Musculoskeletal pain
• Jaw problems (osteonecrosis of the jaw, rare with long term use)
Most side effects are mild but proper administration greatly reduces risk.
