DESCRIPTION
ZEMIGLO Gemigliptin Tablet contains gemigliptin, an oral antidiabetic medication belonging to the dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP 4) inhibitor class. Gemigliptin works by increasing incretin hormone levels, which enhance glucose dependent insulin secretion and reduce glucagon release, thereby helping control blood glucose levels without causing significant hypoglycemia when used alone.

USES
• Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus
• Improvement of glycemic control as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents
• Adjunct to diet and exercise to help control blood sugar levels
Not indicated for type 1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis.

DOSAGE
Use strictly as directed by a physician.
• Adults: 50 mg once daily
Tablet may be taken with or without food and should be taken at the same time each day. Swallow whole with water.

PRECAUTIONS
• Not for use in type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
• Assess renal and hepatic function before starting therapy and periodically during treatment
• Use with caution in patients with moderate to severe renal or hepatic impairment
• Monitor for signs of pancreatitis (persistent severe abdominal pain); discontinue if suspected
• Risk of hypoglycemia may increase when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas
• Consult a healthcare professional before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
• Inform the physician of all other medications being taken

SIDE EFFECTS
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Nasopharyngitis or upper respiratory tract infection
• Gastrointestinal discomfort
• Hypoglycemia (more common when used with other antidiabetic drugs)
• Rare but serious: pancreatitis, hypersensitivity reactions
Most side effects are mild and transient.
