DESCRIPTION
ZYVIRAX Aciclovir Cream 5% is a topical antiviral medication containing aciclovir, which inhibits the replication of herpes simplex virus. It is used for the treatment of viral skin infections, particularly cold sores on the lips and face.

USES
• Treatment of herpes simplex infections of the skin
• Management of cold sores (herpes labialis)
• Helps reduce pain, itching, and duration of herpes lesions when applied early

DOSAGE
• Apply a thin layer to the affected area five times daily (approximately every 4 hours while awake)
• Treatment is usually continued for 5 days and may be extended up to 10 days if lesions have not healed
• Begin application as soon as symptoms (tingling, itching, redness) appear

PRECAUTIONS
• For external use only
• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and inside the nose
• Do not apply to broken skin or severe lesions unless advised by a healthcare professional
• Wash hands before and after application
• Use with caution in individuals with known hypersensitivity to aciclovir or excipients
• Not intended to prevent transmission of herpes virus

SIDE EFFECTS
• Mild burning or stinging sensation at the application site
• Dryness, itching, or redness of the skin
• Rarely, allergic reactions such as rash or swelling
