DESCRIPTION
CHOLEFEN Fenofibrate Capsule 200 mg contains fenofibrate, a lipid modifying agent belonging to the fibrate class. It works by activating peroxisome proliferator activated receptor alpha (PPAR α), which helps reduce triglyceride levels and increase HDL (“good”) cholesterol while lowering LDL and total cholesterol. Fenofibrate is commonly used in patients with dyslipidemia who do not adequately respond to diet and lifestyle modification alone.

USES
• Treatment of hypertriglyceridemia (high triglycerides)
• Management of mixed dyslipidemia
• Helps reduce total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol

DOSAGE
• Adults:
o 1 capsule (200 mg) once daily, or as directed by a physician
• Take with meals to improve absorption

PRECAUTIONS
• Do not exceed the recommended dose
• Contraindicated in patients with severe liver disease, gallbladder disease, or severe renal impairment
• Use with caution in patients with mild to moderate kidney disease; dose adjustment may be required
• Risk of muscle toxicity may be increased when combined with statins; inform your doctor if taking other cholesterol lowering medicines
• Liver function tests and lipid levels should be monitored periodically
