DESCRIPTION
ADIVIA Sitagliptin Film Coated Tablet contains sitagliptin, an oral antidiabetic medicine belonging to the dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP 4) inhibitor class. It works by increasing levels of incretin hormones, which help regulate blood sugar by increasing insulin release and decreasing glucagon levels in a glucose dependent manner.

USES
• Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus
• Improvement of glycemic control as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents
• Adjunct to diet and exercise to help control blood glucose levels

DOSAGE
Use strictly as directed by a physician.
• Adults: 100 mg once daily
• Renal impairment: Dose adjustment may be required based on kidney function
Tablet may be taken with or without food and should be taken at the same time each day.

PRECAUTIONS
• Not indicated for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
• Use with caution in patients with kidney disease; renal function should be assessed before and during treatment
• Monitor for signs of pancreatitis (severe abdominal pain); discontinue if suspected
• Use with caution when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas due to risk of hypoglycemia
• Consult a healthcare professional before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
• Inform the physician of all other medications being taken

SIDE EFFECTS
• Upper respiratory tract infection
• Headache
• Nasopharyngitis
• Gastrointestinal discomfort
• Hypoglycemia (more likely when used with other antidiabetic drugs)
• Rare but serious: pancreatitis, severe joint pain, allergic reactions
Most side effects are mild and transient.
