DESCRIPTION
ATENURIX Febuxostat Film Coated Tablet contains febuxostat, a xanthine oxidase inhibitor used to lower serum uric acid levels. It works by inhibiting xanthine oxidase, an enzyme involved in uric acid production, thereby reducing uric acid formation in the body. Febuxostat is primarily indicated for long term management of hyperuricemia in patients with gout.

USES
• Chronic management of hyperuricemia in gout patients
• Prevention of gout flares due to elevated uric acid levels
• Reduction of serum uric acid to target levels to prevent urate crystal deposition
Not intended for treatment of acute gout attacks.

DOSAGE
Use strictly as directed by a physician.
• Adults: 40 mg once daily
• Dose may be increased based on serum uric acid levels and clinical response
Tablet may be taken with or without food and should be taken at the same time each day.

PRECAUTIONS
• Not recommended for the treatment of acute gout flares
• Gout flare attacks may increase when starting therapy; prophylactic NSAIDs or colchicine may be prescribed initially
• Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease
• Monitor liver function tests periodically
• Use with caution in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment
• Consult a healthcare professional before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
• Inform the physician of all other medications being taken to avoid interactions
