DESCRIPTION
RITEMED Colchicine Tablet contains colchicine, an anti inflammatory medicine used primarily in the management of gout. It works by reducing the inflammatory response caused by uric acid crystal deposition in joints, thereby relieving pain, swelling, and redness. Colchicine does not lower uric acid levels but helps control inflammation associated with gout attacks.

USES
• Treatment of acute gout attacks
• Prevention of recurrent gout flares
• Management of gout flares during initiation of uric acid–lowering therapy (e.g., allopurinol or febuxostat)
• Treatment of other inflammatory conditions as prescribed by a physician

DOSAGE
Use strictly as directed by a physician.
• Acute gout attack:
Initial dose followed by additional doses as prescribed until pain relief or dose limit is reached
• Prevention of gout attacks:
500 mcg once to twice daily, or as prescribed
Tablets should be swallowed whole with water. Do not exceed the prescribed dose, as colchicine has a narrow safety margin.

PRECAUTIONS
• Do not exceed the recommended dose due to risk of toxicity
• Use with caution in patients with kidney or liver impairment
• Contraindicated in patients with severe renal or hepatic disease when combined with certain medicines
• Numerous drug interactions may occur (e.g., macrolide antibiotics); inform the physician of all medications being taken
• Use with caution in elderly patients
• Consult a healthcare professional before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
• Discontinue and seek medical advice if severe gastrointestinal or neuromuscular symptoms occur

SIDE EFFECTS
• Diarrhea
