DESCRIPTION
FURIC Febuxostat Film Coated Tablet contains febuxostat, a xanthine oxidase inhibitor used to reduce serum uric acid levels. It works by blocking xanthine oxidase, the enzyme responsible for uric acid production, thereby decreasing uric acid formation in the body. Febuxostat is used for long term management of hyperuricemia in patients with gout.

USES
• Chronic management of hyperuricemia in gout patients
• Prevention of gout attacks associated with elevated uric acid levels
• Reduction of serum uric acid to recommended target levels to prevent crystal deposition
Not indicated for the treatment of acute gout attacks.

DOSAGE
Use strictly as directed by a physician.
• Adults: 40 mg once daily
• Dose may be increased based on serum uric acid levels and clinical response
Tablet may be taken with or without food and should be taken at the same time each day.

PRECAUTIONS
• Not for treatment of acute gout flares
• Gout attacks may occur more frequently when therapy is initiated; prophylactic treatment (e.g., NSAIDs or colchicine) may be required
• Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease
• Regular monitoring of liver function tests is recommended
• Use with caution in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment
• Consult a healthcare professional before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
• Inform the physician of all other medications being taken to avoid drug interactions

SIDE EFFECTS
• Gout flare (common during early therapy)
