DESCRIPTION
GOUCINE Colchicine Tablet 500 mcg contains colchicine, an anti inflammatory agent used primarily in gout. It works by inhibiting microtubule formation and reducing the activity of inflammatory cells, thereby decreasing inflammation and pain associated with gout attacks.

USES
• Treatment of acute gout attacks
• Prevention of gout flares during initiation of uric acid–lowering therapy
• Management of chronic gout, as prescribed
• Treatment of familial Mediterranean fever (as directed by a specialist)

DOSAGE
• Acute gout: Dose and schedule are prescribed by a healthcare professional; low dose regimens are commonly used
• Gout prevention: Usually 500 mcg once or twice daily, as prescribed
Note: Dosage must be individualized based on patient response, kidney and liver function. Do not exceed the prescribed dose.

PRECAUTIONS
• Use with caution in patients with kidney or liver impairment
• Contraindicated in patients with severe renal or hepatic disease when used with certain interacting medicines
• Avoid use with strong CYP3A4 or P glycoprotein inhibitors unless advised by a physician
• Not intended for pain relief unrelated to gout
• Elderly patients may be more susceptible to toxicity

SIDE EFFECTS
• Diarrhea
• Nausea or vomiting
• Abdominal pain or cramps
• Loss of appetite
• Muscle pain or weakness (with prolonged or high dose use)
• Rarely, bone marrow suppression or neuropathy
Seek immediate medical attention if severe diarrhea, muscle weakness, numbness, or unusual bleeding occurs.
