DESCRIPTION
TGP Febuxostat Film Coated Tablet 40 mg contains febuxostat, a xanthine oxidase inhibitor. It works by reducing the production of uric acid in the body, thereby lowering serum uric acid levels and helping prevent gout attacks and complications related to hyperuricemia.

USES
• Treatment of chronic hyperuricemia in patients with gout
• Prevention of gout attacks associated with elevated uric acid levels
• Reduction of uric acid levels to prevent urate crystal deposition

DOSAGE
• Adults: Usually 40 mg once daily
• Dose may be increased to 80 mg once daily if target serum uric acid levels are not achieved, as directed by a healthcare professional
Note: Febuxostat can be taken with or without food. Gout flares may occur during initiation of therapy; prophylactic treatment may be prescribed.

PRECAUTIONS
• Not recommended for patients with asymptomatic hyperuricemia
• Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease; assess risks before use
• Monitor liver function tests periodically during treatment
• Gout flares may increase when starting therapy; do not discontinue during an acute attack
• Use with caution in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment
• Avoid use with azathioprine or mercaptopurine
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding: use only if clearly prescribed by a healthcare professional
