DESCRIPTION
KLONTAR Gentamicin Ophthalmic and Otic Solution 0.3% contains gentamicin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic effective against a wide range of susceptible bacteria. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, leading to bacterial cell death. This sterile solution is suitable for eye (ophthalmic) and ear (otic) use to treat localized bacterial infections.

USES
• Treatment of bacterial eye infections, such as:
o Conjunctivitis
o Blepharitis
o Keratitis
• Treatment of bacterial ear infections, such as:
o Otitis externa
• Used when infections are caused by gentamicin sensitive organisms

DOSAGE
Ophthalmic use (eyes):
• Instill 1–2 drops into the affected eye(s) every 4–6 hours, or as prescribed
• In severe infections, dosing may be increased initially, then reduced as symptoms improve
Otic use (ears):
• Instill 2–3 drops into the affected ear 2–3 times daily, or as directed by a healthcare professional
• Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface
• Follow the full course of treatment as prescribed

PRECAUTIONS
• For ophthalmic and otic use only; not for injection
• Not effective against viral or fungal infections
• Prolonged use may result in secondary infections or resistant organisms
• Use with caution in patients with known hypersensitivity to aminoglycosides
• Avoid use if there is suspected tympanic membrane perforation unless directed by a physician
• Discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional if irritation or hypersensitivity occurs
