DESCRIPTION
RANVAST Atorvastatin Film Coated Tablet 20 mg contains atorvastatin, a lipid lowering agent belonging to the statin class (HMG CoA reductase inhibitors). It works by reducing the production of cholesterol in the liver, thereby lowering total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL), and triglycerides while increasing high density lipoprotein (HDL).

• Treatment of hypercholesterolemia
• Management of mixed dyslipidemia
• Reduction of elevated LDL cholesterol and triglycerides
• Prevention of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke in high risk patients
• Adjunct to diet and lifestyle modification for cholesterol control

DOSAGE
• Adults: Usually 10–20 mg once daily; may be adjusted up to 80 mg once daily based on lipid response and medical advice
Note: Can be taken at any time of day, with or without food. Follow the physician’s instructions strictly.

PRECAUTIONS
• Use with caution in patients with liver disease or elevated liver enzymes
• Regular monitoring of lipid levels and liver function is recommended
• Increased risk of muscle damage when used with certain medicines

• Avoid excessive alcohol consumption during therapy

“How much and how often should you use the product? Atorvastatin tablets are taken orally. Your doctor will inform you of the right dosage or number of tablets you should be taking each day based on your age, overall health, and medical conditions. Atorvastatin is usually taken once daily. Avoid eating food that is high in fat or cholesterol. Atorvastatin will not be as effective in lowering your cholesterol if you do not follow the proper diet plan. Please note that it may take up to 2 weeks before you notice any difference in your cholesterol levels, and your doctor may require regular blood tests to monitor your condition. You may notice changes in your symptoms but keep taking the medication as prescribed. Do not stop taking atorvastatin unless told to by your doctor. Pharmacological Action: Amlodipine is considered a peripheral arterial vasodilator that exerts its action directly on vascular smooth muscle to lead to a reduction in peripheral vascular resistance, causing a decrease in blood pressure. Before using this medication notify your doctor if you have or are: Allergic to any food, syrup, or substance Pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing a baby Liver disease Liver problems Muscle pain or weakness Kidney disease Diabetes A thyroid disorder If you drink more than 2 alcoholic beverages daily Serious interactions can occur when atorvastatin is combined with certain medicines. Inform your doctor of all the medications you are currently taking, including the ones you have already stopped. In rare cases, atorvastatin can cause a condition that leads to the breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue which can trigger kidney failure. Inform your doctor immediately if you have unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness especially if it is combined with fever, unusual tiredness, and dark colored urine. Atorvastatin can harm an unborn baby and can cause birth defects. Do not use this medication if you are pregnant. Stop use of this medication right away and inform your doctor if you become pregnant. Use birth control to prevent pregnancy if you are on atorvastatin. Below are the possible side effects that you may experience from taking atorvastatin tablets. These side effects are possible but do not always occur. If you experience any of these side effects, stop taking the product and immediately consult with your doctor. Muscle weakness in your hips, shoulders, neck, and back Trouble lifting your arms, climbing, or standing Liver problems, upper stomach pain, weakness, tired feeling, loss of appetite, dark urine, jaundice (or yellowing of the skin or eyes) Kidney problems (little or no urinating, swelling in your feet or ankles, feeling tired or short of breath) Joint pain Stuffy nose, sore throat Diarrhea Pain in your arms or legs Generic atorvastatin tablets are available in all The Generics Pharmacy branches nationwide at a very affordable price.”
