DESCRIPTION
RITEMED Losartan Film Coated Tablet contains losartan potassium, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. Losartan also helps protect the kidneys by reducing pressure within the renal circulation, especially in patients with diabetes.

USES
• Management of hypertension (high blood pressure)
• Reduction of risk of stroke in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy
• Kidney protection in patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension
• Management of cardiovascular risk associated with high blood pressure

DOSAGE
Use strictly as directed by a physician.
• Adults: 50 mg once daily
• Dose may be adjusted (25–100 mg daily) depending on blood pressure response and patient condition
Tablet may be taken with or without food and should be taken at the same time each day.

PRECAUTIONS
• Contraindicated during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters
• Use with caution in patients with kidney disease, liver impairment, or dehydration
• Monitor blood pressure, kidney function, and potassium levels regularly
• Avoid potassium supplements or potassium containing salt substitutes unless advised
• Use with caution in patients taking diuretics due to risk of low blood pressure
• Consult a healthcare professional before use during breastfeeding
• Inform the physician of all medications being taken to avoid interactions

SIDE EFFECTS
• Dizziness or lightheadedness
• Low blood pressure (hypotension)
• Fatigue
• Headache
• Increased potassium levels (hyperkalemia)

Side effects are generally mild and occur most commonly at the start of therapy.
