DESCRIPTION
TAPDIN Methimazole Tablet 5 mg contains methimazole, an antithyroid medication used to reduce the overproduction of thyroid hormones. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) through blocking iodine utilization in the thyroid gland, thereby helping restore normal thyroid function.

• Treatment of hyperthyroidism
• Management of Graves’ disease
• Preparation of patients with hyperthyroidism for thyroid surgery
• Adjunct therapy before and after radioactive iodine treatment

DOSAGE
• Dosage is individualized based on severity of hyperthyroidism, age, and response to treatment
• Adults: Initial and maintenance doses are determined by a healthcare professional
• May be taken once or multiple times daily, with or without food
• Regular monitoring of thyroid function tests (TSH, T3, T4) is required
• Do not discontinue abruptly without medical advice

PRECAUTIONS
• Use with caution in patients with liver disease
• Monitor for symptoms of agranulocytosis such as fever, sore throat, or infection; discontinue and seek medical care immediately if these occur
