DESCRIPTION
TGP AMBICA Rosuvastatin Film Coated Tablet 20 mg contains rosuvastatin, a lipid lowering agent from the statin class (HMG CoA reductase inhibitors). It works by inhibiting cholesterol synthesis in the liver, leading to a reduction in total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL), and triglycerides, while increasing high density lipoprotein (HDL).

USES
• Treatment of hypercholesterolemia
• Management of mixed dyslipidemia
• Reduction of elevated LDL cholesterol and triglycerides
• Prevention of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke in high risk patients
• Adjunct to diet and lifestyle modification for lipid control

DOSAGE
• Adults: Usually 10–20 mg once daily; may be adjusted up to 40 mg once daily based on lipid levels and patient response
• Patients with renal impairment or elderly: Lower starting dose may be recommended

PRECAUTIONS
• Use with caution in patients with liver disease or elevated liver enzymes
• Regular monitoring of lipid levels and liver function tests is recommended
• Increased risk of muscle disorders, especially at higher doses or when combined with interacting medicines

• Avoid excessive alcohol consumption
• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding

SIDE EFFECTS
• Headache

• Rarely, myopathy or rhabdomyolysis
