“An antiallergen, levocetirizine, blocks the chemical messenger (histamine) that causes runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. A leukotriene antagonist, montelukast. It functions by obstructing leukotriene, another chemical messenger. This alleviates symptoms by reducing inflammation (swelling) in the airways and nose.”
