MEGALIN Mefenamic Acid Capsule 500 mg
DESCRIPTION
MEGALIN Mefenamic Acid Capsule 500 mg contains mefenamic acid, a non steroidal anti inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis, thereby reducing pain, inflammation, and fever. Mefenamic acid is commonly used for short term management of mild to moderate pain, especially pain associated with inflammation.

USES
• Relief of mild to moderate pain
• Treatment of dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain)
• Relief of headache and toothache
• Management of muscle and joint pain
• Relief of pain due to minor injuries or inflammatory conditions

DOSAGE
• Adults:
o Initial dose: 500 mg, followed by 250 mg every 6 hours, as needed
o Or as directed by a physician
Take preferably after meals to reduce gastrointestinal irritation.
Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration (usually not more than 7 days unless advised).

PRECAUTIONS
• Do not exceed the recommended dose or duration
• Contraindicated in patients with active peptic ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding, or severe kidney, liver, or heart disease
• Use with caution in elderly patients
• Not recommended for use during the third trimester of pregnancy
• Consult a doctor before use if pregnant or breastfeeding
• Avoid concurrent use with other NSAIDs unless advised by a physician
• Discontinue use and seek medical advice if pain persists or worsens
