DESCRIPTION
CAPTOBES Captopril Tablet 25 mg contains captopril, an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It lowers blood pressure by relaxing and widening blood vessels, improving blood flow and reducing the workload of the heart.

USES
• Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure)
• Management of congestive heart failure
• Improvement of survival after myocardial infarction
• Treatment of diabetic nephropathy in selected patients, as prescribed

DOSAGE
• Adults (Hypertension): Usually 25 mg taken two to three times daily, adjusted according to patient response
• Heart failure or post myocardial infarction: Dose is individualized and gradually titrated by a physician
Note: It is generally recommended to take captopril on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before meals, unless otherwise directed.

PRECAUTIONS
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment or electrolyte imbalance
• Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and serum potassium is advised
• Risk of excessive blood pressure lowering, especially after the first dose
• Use with caution in patients taking diuretics or with dehydration
• Not recommended during pregnancy due to risk to the fetus
• Consult a healthcare professional before breastfeeding

SIDE EFFECTS
• Dry, persistent cough
• Dizziness or lightheadedness
• Hypotension
• Skin rash or itching
• Altered taste sensation
• Rarely, angioedema (swelling of face, lips, or throat)
