CLOXANE (Cloxacillin) Capsule 500 mg
Description
CLOXANE contains Cloxacillin 500 mg, a penicillinase-resistant penicillin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections caused by susceptible bacteria, particularly penicillinase-producing Staphylococcus species.
Uses
CLOXANE is used for the treatment of:

Skin and soft tissue infections (boils, abscesses, cellulitis, infected wounds)
Respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, and sinusitis
Bone and joint infections
Endocarditis (infection of the inner lining of the heart)
Septicemia (bloodstream infections)
Certain urinary tract infections caused by susceptible bacteria

Dosage
Adults

Usual dose: 250 mg to 500 mg every 6 hours, depending on the severity and type of infection.

Administration

Take on an empty stomach, preferably 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals.
Complete the full prescribed course even if symptoms improve.

Precautions

Do not use if allergic to cloxacillin, penicillin, or cephalosporin antibiotics.
Use cautiously in patients with kidney impairment.
Inform your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding.
Tell your healthcare provider about all medicines you are taking to avoid possible drug interactions.
