DESCRIPTION
OPTRYL Erythromycin Ophthalmic Ointment 0.5% contains erythromycin, a macrolide antibiotic formulated for topical ophthalmic use. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, thereby stopping the growth of susceptible bacteria. The ointment base allows prolonged contact with the eye surface for effective treatment and protection.

USES
• Treatment of bacterial eye infections, including:
o Conjunctivitis
o Blepharitis
o Keratitis
• Prophylaxis of neonatal ophthalmia
• Prevention of secondary bacterial infection in minor eye injuries or post procedure, as prescribed

DOSAGE
• Apply approximately ½ inch ribbon of ointment into the affected eye(s) 2–4 times daily, or as directed by a healthcare professional
• Avoid touching the tube tip to the eye or any surface
• Vision may be temporarily blurred after application
• Use for the full prescribed duration

PRECAUTIONS
• For ophthalmic use only
• Do not use if there is known hypersensitivity to erythromycin or macrolide antibiotics
• Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non susceptible organisms
• Avoid wearing contact lenses during treatment unless advised by a healthcare professional
• Discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional if irritation or allergic reaction occurs
• Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if clearly needed and prescribed

SIDE EFFECTS
Generally well tolerated. Possible side effects may include:
• Temporary eye irritation or redness
