DESCRIPTION
NATRICIN FORTE Rifampicin Oral Suspension contains rifampicin, a rifamycin class antibacterial agent with potent activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and several gram positive and gram negative organisms. It works by inhibiting bacterial DNA dependent RNA polymerase, thereby suppressing RNA synthesis and bacterial replication. The oral suspension formulation is particularly suitable for pediatric patients and adults who have difficulty swallowing tablets.

USES
• Part of combination therapy for tuberculosis (pulmonary and extrapulmonary)
• Treatment of leprosy, as part of multidrug regimens
• Management of serious bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms, as prescribed
• Prophylaxis for close contacts of meningococcal disease or Haemophilus influenzae type b, when indicated
• Not intended for use as monotherapy for tuberculosis

DOSAGE
• Dosage is individualized based on body weight, age, and clinical condition
• Children: Dose is calculated per kilogram body weight, as prescribed
• Adults: Dose as directed by a healthcare professional
• Usually administered once daily, preferably on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after meals)
• Shake well before each use
• Use a calibrated measuring device for accurate dosing
• Complete the full course of treatment

PRECAUTIONS
• Use only under medical supervision, especially for tuberculosis treatment
• Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to rifampicin
• Use with caution in patients with liver disease; monitor liver function tests regularly
• Rifampicin is a potent enzyme inducer and can reduce the effectiveness of many medicines (e.g., oral contraceptives, anticoagulants, antiretrovirals)
• May cause orange red discoloration of urine, sweat, saliva, and tears (harmless)
