DESCRIPTION
TGP Pioglitazone HCl Tablet 30 mg is an oral antidiabetic medication belonging to the thiazolidinedione (TZD) class. It works by improving the body’s sensitivity to insulin in muscle and fat tissues and by reducing glucose production in the liver, thereby helping to control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

USES
• Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus
• Used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control
• May be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medicines such as metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin, as prescribed

DOSAGE
• Adults:
The usual dose is 15–30 mg once daily, depending on blood glucose response.
• 30 mg once daily may be used as an initial or maintenance dose, as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
• May be taken with or without food.

• Regular monitoring of blood glucose is recommended.

PRECAUTIONS
• Do not use if allergic to pioglitazone
• Use with caution in patients with:
o Heart failure or fluid retention
o Liver disease
o History of edema
• Contraindicated in patients with severe heart failure
• Liver function tests should be done before and during treatment
• May cause weight gain and fluid retention
• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless clearly prescribed
