DESCRIPTION
AZYTH Azithromycin Tablet contains azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, thereby stopping the growth of susceptible bacteria. Azithromycin is known for its convenient dosing schedule and good tissue penetration.

USES
• Upper and lower respiratory tract infections
• Community acquired pneumonia
• Tonsillitis and pharyngitis
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Certain ear infections (otitis media)
• Other bacterial infections caused by azithromycin sensitive organisms
Not effective for viral infections such as colds or flu.

DOSAGE
Use strictly as directed by a physician.
• Adults:
Commonly 500 mg once daily for 3 days
(or other regimens as prescribed depending on infection)
Tablet may be taken with or without food. Complete the full course of treatment even if symptoms improve early.

PRECAUTIONS
• Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to azithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics
• Use with caution in patients with liver impairment
• May cause QT interval prolongation; use caution in patients with cardiac rhythm disorders
