DESCRIPTION
MELANOV MR Gliclazide Modified Release Tablet contains gliclazide, a sulfonylurea oral antidiabetic agent formulated in a modified release (MR) tablet. It works by stimulating insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and improving peripheral insulin sensitivity. The modified release formulation provides sustained blood glucose control with once daily dosing and a lower risk of hypoglycemia compared with immediate release forms when used appropriately.

USES
• Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus
• Improvement of glycemic control as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents
• Adjunct to diet and exercise to help control blood glucose levels
Not indicated for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

DOSAGE
Use strictly as directed by a physician.
• Adults:
30–120 mg once daily, depending on blood glucose response
(MELANOV MR 60 mg is commonly taken once daily)
Take the tablet with breakfast. Swallow whole with water. Do not crush, chew, or split the modified release tablet.

PRECAUTIONS
• Risk of hypoglycemia, especially with missed meals, excessive exercise, or alcohol intake
• Use with caution in elderly patients and those with renal or hepatic impairment
• Avoid excessive alcohol consumption
• Monitor blood glucose regularly
• Inform the physician of all medicines being taken to avoid interactions
• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless clearly prescribed

SIDE EFFECTS
