DESCRIPTION
BETACARD Carvedilol Tablet contains carvedilol, a non selective beta blocker with alpha blocking activity. It works by reducing heart rate, decreasing blood pressure, and lowering the workload on the heart. Carvedilol also improves heart function and survival in patients with heart failure when used as part of standard therapy.

USES
• Management of hypertension (high blood pressure)
• Treatment of chronic heart failure
• Management of left ventricular dysfunction following myocardial infarction
• Reduction of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality associated with heart disease

DOSAGE
Use strictly as directed by a physician.
• Hypertension:
Usually 12.5–25 mg once or twice daily, depending on response
• Heart failure:
Dose is started low and gradually increased under close medical supervision
Tablet should be taken with food to reduce the risk of dizziness due to low blood pressure. Take at the same time each day.

PRECAUTIONS
• Do not abruptly discontinue; sudden withdrawal may worsen heart conditions
• Use with caution in patients with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
• Use with caution in diabetes, as carvedilol may mask symptoms of low blood sugar
• Monitor blood pressure and heart rate regularly
• Use with caution in patients with liver impairment
• Consult a healthcare professional before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding

SIDE EFFECTS
• Dizziness or lightheadedness
• Fatigue
• Slow heart rate (bradycardia)
• Low blood pressure (hypotension)
• Weight gain or fluid retention
• Diarrhea
• Shortness of breath (rare)
Most side effects occur during dose initiation or adjustment.
