DESCRIPTION
XELEVIA Sitagliptin Film Coated Tablet contains sitagliptin, an oral antidiabetic medication classified as a dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP 4) inhibitor. It helps improve blood glucose control by increasing incretin hormone levels, which stimulate glucose dependent insulin release and suppress glucagon secretion.

USES
• Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus
• Improvement of glycemic control as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic medications
• Adjunct to diet and exercise for blood sugar control
• Suitable for patients requiring dose adjustment due to renal impairment

DOSAGE
Use strictly as directed by a physician.
• Adults: 50 mg once daily
• Patients with moderate renal impairment: 50 mg once daily (dose adjusted based on kidney function)
Tablet may be taken with or without food and should be taken at the same time each day.

PRECAUTIONS
• Not indicated for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
• Renal function should be assessed before initiation and periodically during treatment
• Monitor for signs of pancreatitis (persistent severe abdominal pain); discontinue if suspected
• Risk of hypoglycemia may increase when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas
• Use with caution in patients with a history of heart failure
• Consult a healthcare professional before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
• Inform the physician of all concurrent medications

SIDE EFFECTS
• Headache
• Upper respiratory tract infection
• Nasopharyngitis
• Gastrointestinal discomfort
