There are small habits you do every day that really protect you and others against the diseases floating out there.

Habit #1: Getting proper sleep

Sleeping the proper 8 hours consistently (9 pm to 5 am; 10 pm to 6 am) restores the tired cells in your bodily organs, including your immune system. So basically, if your immune system gets the right amount of rest every night, it’ll be in tip-top shape to protect your body from virtually any sicknesses.

Habit #2: Eating a well-balanced diet

A complete meal composed of rice, meat, and vegetables supplies your body with the nutrients necessary to fuel all your body’s functions. When everything is working well in your body, there’s no reason for it to break down and suffer a malaise.

Habit #3: Washing your hands

Even the little things like washing your hands each time you enter the house protects you from the harshest diseases. When you do so, you eliminate all the germs and bacteria stuck on your hands and prevent their spread in your home. Be sure to lather soap up to your forearms just to be sure.

Habit #4: Covering your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing

This is generally a “good manners” rule, and with good reaso. Covering your mouth and nose prevents the spread of germs that can infect others when airborne.

Habit #5: Getting your regular flu shots

Vaccines further boost your immune system from new strains of viruses that haven’t even materialized yet. So while everyone else is getting sick.

Habit #6: Touch the eyes, nose, or mouth

These 3 areas are gateways for germs and other bacteria into your body. So whenever you touch an object like a doorknob, avoid placing your hands on these body parts. Some surfaces may still carry germs that came from other people.

Habit #7: Maintaining proper boundaries with personal belongings

Avoid sharing personal items such as toothbrush, clothes, and towels with others. You protect yourself from the germs of the other person in doing so.

Habit #8: Avoiding contact with wild animals

Untamed, unvaccinated animals could possibly carry a bevy of diseases. Don’t risk yourself getting bitten by staying away from them.

Habit #9: Wash your food properly

Before preparing your food, such as fruits, vegetables, and meat, be sure that they are properly sanitized to prevent germs from lingering. Also, cook food at the proper temperatures to ensure that all the bacteria and germs are eliminated.
