Description:
Atorvastatin is a type of HMG CoA reductase inhibitor, or statin, when combined with proper diet is used to lower blood levels of “bad” cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein, or LDL), increase the so-called “good cholesterol” (high-density lipoprotein, or HDL), and lower triglycerides (a type of fat found in our blood). Atorvastatin is used to treat patients with high cholesterol, reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, or other heart complications in people with type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, or similar risk factors. This medicine is suitable for adults and children 10 and over.
